Detox Bath Recipe & Tips

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

Detox means to rid the body of poisonous substances literally, and in this case, a powerful poison is stress! A detox bath will help your body to eliminate toxins as well as absorb the minerals and nutrients that are in the water. Detoxing can be one of the most incredible natural relief remedies when it comes to bringing our bodies back to balance and wellness.

Make sure you can give yourself plenty of time! The first twenty minutes are said to help rid the body of toxins, and then the second twenty minutes are for absorbing the minerals. Fill your tub up with hot water! Then add Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate). Soaking in Epsom salts helps to replenish the body's magnesium levels. The sulfate flushes toxins and helps form proteins in brain tissue and joints. You can purchase them anywhere at Wholefoods, Walgreens, and on Amazon, you get the idea.

Then add 1-2 cups of baking soda. Baking soda is known for its cleansing ability and even has anti-fungal properties leaving the skin soft.

Next, add ground ginger or fresh ginger tea. This step is optional. Ginger can increase your temperature levels, helping you sweat out the toxins. You can add 1 tablespoon to 1/3 cup, depending on how sensitive you are and the size of your tub. You might find your skin starts to look a little red from it. That's just because of the heat rising. It will go away! This detox bath recipe works excellent when eliminating a bug of some sort, flu, or cold.

I also like to add coconut oil. It leaves the skin super moisturized and soft! (optional) (maybe for another combo when you aren't using the ginger)

Add in aromatherapy oils, which are also optional, but it's one of my favorite parts! It just enhances the bath and has many therapeutic properties. Lavender gives a very relaxing experience. Tea tree oil and eucalyptus assist with the detoxification process. 10 to 20 drops will work great!

Stir it up (Bob Marley's voice). Mix all the ingredients. Then soak. Forty minutes is the recommended time; aim for at least 20. You should start sweating soon!

Get out slowly and carefully. You might get lightheaded and feel weak or drained. Your body was working hard while you were relaxing. All of the ingredients might make the tub a little slippery as well, so be careful getting out cautiously, or should I say gingerly.

Drink plenty of water! Any time your body detoxes after a Purify session, bath, massage, chiropractor appointment, or workout, you need to flush out toxins. If you don't, you will likely feel sick afterward.

Drink water before and during the bath as well. Eucalyptus essential oil helps open up breathing passageways. Don't wet your hair in this water.

Don't eat immediately before or after the bath. Make sure the water isn't too hot. (You can pass out) Be careful with what oils you use. Don't do this if you are prego, have heart, kidney, or other health issues.

Turn off the lights, light candles, play chill music, use your crystals, meditate, close your eyes, relax and detox away!

P.S. which bath would you love to do your detox soak in?! ^
